You’re a savvy business owner. You’re rocking and rolling on social media, your website is stellar, and your customer service and products leave nothing to be desired. Hats off to you and your team! In fact, there are customers out there just dying to tell the world about their life-changing experience with your products and/or services, and they’d love to do it by leaving you a Google review. Seems easy enough. But how do you get a Google review link to share with them?
If you’ve never tried to find a link to your Google Business page, please do so now. I’ll wait here while you try it…
How’d it go? If you managed to find an easy way to share a link to your business so customers can leave a review, then you deserve a medal. It’s not an easy feat and you’ve apparently conquered it! For the rest of us, we need a straightforward way to point customers to our Google review page so they can tell their story.
In the past, I’ve recommended that clients simply tell their customers to visit Google.com and then search the business name to find their Google review link. So, literally type in “Punch Bug Marketing.” That will give you a result something like this.
From there, you could click on the business name and eventually see other reviews. Once you find those, you’re getting close. Only one more click and then you can actually write a review of your own. This process worked, but it was tedious for the customer and had way too many steps.
Ready to make the process of getting Google reviews much, much easier? Good. Here we go!
The process below takes all the burden off the customer, and it’s super easy for the business owner as well. You’re going to create a direct link to your Google listing that you can share via email, social media, or even on your website. It’s going to save you tons of time and probably a few headaches. Since the process is so easy, it’s also going to increase your chances of getting your customers to follow through with writing a Google Review.
Step 1: Visit https://developers.google.com/places/place-id
Step 2: Search for your business in location box
Step 3: Copy your unique Place ID
Step 4: Affix your Place ID to this base URL: https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid
The final URL should look something like this: https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=ChIJqUBPSpdPa4gRnwk1HxHHszE
Once you have completed this process, you should save the link somewhere handy so it’s always easy to copy and paste. No more convoluted instructions for your customers. Just one easy URL.
