Although most of us have used this popular social media site on a personal level, many have still not harnessed the power of Pinterest for business. With around 11 million users engaged on an almost daily basis, it’s clear to see that there is an audience–you just have to capture their attention. Here are a few of the easiest ways to market your business on Pinterest.

Creative Boards

This is really the first step when you sign up for Pinterest. As a business, you don’t want a bunch of pinboards about random cute cat pictures. Instead, spend some time thinking about who your customers are and create boards that will engage them.

Don’t Overshare

One of the best parts about using Pinterest to grow your business is being able to share content from your website. This is a good practice, but you don’t want to overdo it. Depending on your industry, I’d say keep it to 50% of your own content or less.

Search For Trends

As you’re perusing the pins, make sure you keep an eye out for trends. You can use the search function to look up keywords and popular hashtags, so get acquainted with that function.

Pin It Button for websitesAdd A Pin-It Button

If your website has content that is worthy of a pin, the last thing you want to do is deter a user because it was too difficult to share. Slap a pin-it button on every page that has shareable content and your fans will know exactly what to do. Be sure to check out the many WordPress plug-ins that allow visitors to share via Pinterest too.

Run A Pinterest Contest

This is a pretty easy and effective way to drive some traffic to your site and expose your business to a larger audience. Simply pick a relevant giveaway or contest, write up a blog about it on your site and get started. There are lots of companies doing this, so spend some time seeing what works and how they did it.

Pin Consistently

If you want to grow your Pinterest followers, you’ll have to share great content. You’ll also have to do it consistently. Try your best to pin each day during optimal times to grow your followers and gain exposure to your brand.

How about you? How are you using Pinterest to grow your business?
